Définition de la récupération
Retrieval refers to the process of obtaining and bringing back data or information stored in a system, such as a database, document repository, or digital storage. It involves accessing relevant data based on user queries or requests, which can be made through various interfaces, such as moteurs de recherche, APIs, or user-friendly applications.
In the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, retrieval often involves sophisticated algorithms that can efficiently search through large datasets to find the most relevant information. This process can include techniques such as keyword matching, semantic search, and traitement du langage naturel (NLP) to understand the intent behind a user’s query and return accurate results.
La récupération peut être classée en différents types en fonction de la nature des données auxquelles on accède :
- Récupération d'informations (IR) : This involves searching for documents or data within a large collection, often using techniques such as indexing and ranking.
- Récupération dans une base de données : This focuses on accessing structured data stored in relational databases en utilisant des langages de requête comme SQL.
- Récupération de contenu : This pertains to fetching multimedia content, such as images or videos, often using metadata ou des méthodes basées sur le contenu.
Effective retrieval systems are essential for various applications, including search engines, systèmes de recommandation, and digital assistants, as they help users quickly find the information they need. The effectiveness of a retrieval system is often measured by its precision (the accuracy of the results returned) and recall (the completeness of the results).
